The Place We Call Home
Multimedia Photography Exhibition
About the Exhibit
The Place We Call Home is a powerful, month-long multimedia photography exhibition organized by Second Front Ukraine Foundation in collaboration with Ukraїner. The exhibit offers a rare and intimate glimpse into the resilience, courage, and spirit of Ukrainian civilians living through the devastation of war in occupied territories.
Through the lens of photographers embedded in conflict zones, visitors will witness the pain and destruction left in the occupied territories, yet it depicts the undying will of the people to rebuild and reclaim their homes. These visuals are a tribute to human strength and determination, encapsulating the blend of despair and hope experienced in war-torn regions. The exhibition features photography, video, personal testimonies and interactive installations, offering visitors a deeply immersive experience.
The Place We Call Home captures a powerful contrast that will resonate with Canadians, even those unfamiliar with Ukraine’s situation. It challenges the idea of home as a place of safety, showing how war has transformed that concept for many Ukrainians.
This exhibition invites reflection on what home truly means and how easily that security can be shattered. By connecting the idea of home to both comfort and loss, the exhibition creates a deep emotional link, helping viewers understand the fragility of home and the importance of solidarity in times of crisis.
