PURSUIT of WELLNESS

Celebrating Black History Month

About Exhibition

The Pursuit of Wellness is an exploration of the deeply human quest for well-being—both physical and emotional—reflecting our inner desires, hopes, and dreams for a better life for ourselves and those we love. The works in this exhibition examine the inherent human need to find a place, a land, or a state of being that symbolizes wellness, presenting portraits of individuals—some abstract, others raw and tangible—whose stories weave together into narratives of yearning, healing, and the search for peace.

Curated from the deeply personal artistic expressions of four contemporary artists of African and Caribbean descent, this exhibition offers a window into the varied, multifaceted understandings of wellness. Each artist presents a unique approach to the theme, yet all connect through their depiction of figurative works that center around the stories of people and their relationship to well-being. Through the language of portraiture, each artist captures moments of struggle, hope, and transformation.

In this exhibition, the pursuit of wellness is not merely an individual quest; it is a shared story—one that extends beyond the canvas.
