Featured artist: Jamal Beasy
BLK Frames, Canada’s largest arts exhibit dedicated to showcasing Black visual artists, returns for its third annual event on September 14th, 2024, from 1-6 pm at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds at Withrow Common Gallery. Curated by Black Men’s Style and Madewell Productions in collaboration with the Canadian National Exhibition Association, this year’s exhibit continues its mission of amplifying voices within the African diaspora.
Every year, BLK Frames focuses on a unique theme that explores the intersectionality of our community as children of the African diaspora. It is our honor to focus on segments of our society whose voices are often unheard or silenced. This year, BLK Frames Volume. 3 pays homage to “Mother Africa” — the originator of all species of life.
This year’s theme celebrates Maternal Muse our perspective of Black women through art, elevating the voices of the women to whom we owe our existence. BLK Frames 3 is dedicated to honouring and highlighting the strength, resilience, and beauty of Black women, capturing their stories and contributions through a variety of artistic expressions, including painting, sculpture, digital art, photography, and mixed media.
